The Eye Care Group

The Eye Care Group (TECG) is one of the longest established ophthalmic offices in Connecticut area. Since 1974, The Eye Care Group has been providing its patients with the best possible medical care and services. TECG has 11 ophthalmologists, all of whom are Yale-affiliated. All subspecialties within ophthalmology - including neuro-ophthalmology, retina, cornea, glaucoma, small incision cataract surgery and oculoplastics - are represented.

To add to The Eye Care Group’s comprehensive programs and services, they are offering  Vision Restoration Therapy (VRT) for vision loss caused by stroke and brain injury.

Dr. Robert Lesser, director of VRT at TECG, is Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and Neurology at Yale University School of Medicine, as well as Clinical Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Yanina Kostina-O’Neil, clinical instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale University School of Medicine is co-directing VRTvat TECG.

The diagnostic portion of VRT is administered at TECG’s Southbury location and follow-up appointments are administered at all locations. The therapy portion of VRT is completed on a compact medical device in the comfort of the patient’s home.

The Eye Care Group employs highly trained certified ophthalmic technicians and assistants, certified retinal angiographers, certified ophthalmic medical technologists, certified orthoptists, and licensed opticians to treat the most complex eye conditions.
