NovaVision™, a Boca Raton firm developing a medical device to help improve the eyesight of the partially blind, announced it has received $20 million in private financing from a group that included Chicago Growth Partners and Johnson & Johnson Development Corp.
The firm is working to expand the national availability of its Vision Restoration Therapy ™, which it describes as the first and only non-invasive medical device approved by the Food and Drug Administration to enhance vision of persons who are partially blind due to brain trauma or stroke.
Since 2004, NovaVision™ has treated more than 1,000 patients, the company said. One of the institutions it has been working through is the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.
