NOVAVISION LAUNCHES FIRST TRULY PORTABLE HEAD MOUNTED PERIMETER SCREENING DEVICE

Innovative Design Improves Practice Productivity for Physicians and Accessibility of Visual Field Testing for Patients

November , 11, 2009 - Orlando, Fla. - NovaVision (www.novavision.com) launched the NovaVision HMP™ Head-Mounted Perimeter, a new medical device created to make visual field testing more accessible for patients with disabilities and physicians with mobile practices.

“We continued to hear that there was limited opportunity for eye doctors to assess bed-ridden and remote patients for visual field defects given the physical requirements on the patients and the sizable footprint of most visual field devices. Additionally, we recognized that more doctors were caring for patients in more locations, so we saw our portable device as a means to deliver a quick reliable screening that would benefit both patients and physicians,” stated Rudy Mazzocchi, President and CEO.

The NovaVision HMP™ Head Mounted Perimeter is an automated portable visual field screening device that quickly and reliably tests a 60 X 44º visual field using a suprathreshold 3 zone testing strategy. The HMP can be easily used in multiple office locations and with patients who may not have been able to sit at a table mounted device due to physical constrains, making the HMP ADA-compliant. Additionally the HMP delivers detailed information with test points every 4º. The hardware is comprised of a head mounted display with state-of-the-art optics and a response button for patient use and an intuitive touch screen and a robust processor for physician use that comes in a carrying case convenient for travel.  Physicians and practices on the go can screen patients for a possible visual field deficit, which may indicate presence of disease or brain injury.

The HMP is the first of several new products NovaVision will launch over the next two years.
