The initial phase of Vision Restoration Therapy typically lasts for approximately six to seven months. During this time, the patient will perform one hour of daily vision therapy at home, prescribed in time intervals based on his or her needs and abilities. After each vision therapy module is completed (approximately every month), therapy results are sent to NovaVision® for evaluation.
NovaVision® clinicians evaluate the patient's therapy results and update the vision therapy to reflect patient progress. This updated therapy is provided to the patient along with a report of their progress. The Partner Center administering Vision Restoration Therapy is also provided with a monthly report to monitor the status and progress of the patient's vision therapy.
Steps in beginning the NovaVision® Vision Restoration Therapy (VRT) process with a patient:
Based on the results of a patient's VRT diagnostics performed at the center, NovaVision® clinicians will create a customized vision therapy specific to the patient's needs - i.e. their type and degree of vision loss post stroke or TBI. The individualized therapy and the medical device used to perform the daily vision therapy are provided to the patient for use in the comfort of their home.
After approximately six to seven months of VRT, patient progress is evaluated by the physicians at the center. If indicated, the patient may continue with the next stage of vision therapy.
